　　Perhaps the most vital person I have ever met is an Italian professor of philosophy who teaches at the University of Pisa.Although I last met this man eight years ago， I have not forgotten his special qualities.First of all，I was impressed by his devotion to teaching. Because his lectures were always well-prepared and clearly delivered， students swarmed into his classroom. His followers appreciated the fact that he believed in what he taught and that he was intellectually stimulating.Furthermore， he could be counted on to explain his ideas in an imaginative way，introducing such aids to understanding as paintings， recordings，pieces of sculpture， and guest lecturers. Once he even sang a song in class to illustrate a point. Second， I admired the fact that he would confer with students outside of the classroom or talk with them on the telephone. Drinking coffee in the snack bar， he would easily make friends with students. Sometimes he would challenge a student to a game of chess. At other times， he would join groups to discuss subjects ranging from astronomy to scuba diving. Many young people visited him in his office for academic advice； others came to his home for social evenings. Finally，I was attracted by his lively wit. He believed that no class hour is a success unless the students and the professor share several chuckles and at least one loud laugh.Through his sense of humor， he made learning more enjoyable and more lasting.If it is true that life makes a wise man smile and a foolish man cry，then my friend is truly a wise man. Probably the best example of his wit is this bit of wisdom with which he once ended a lecture：“It is as dangerous for man to model himself upon his invention， the machine，as it would be for God to model Himself upon His invention.”

　　Everyone has his favorite teacher, so do I. My favourite teacher is Miss Wei, our English teacher. We felt English very difficult when we began to study English. 　　When our friends or roommates have boyfriends, the first question we would like to ask is whether he is handsome or not And we judge them by their appearances, but when I answer this question, I'd like to take how they treat their girlfriends into consideration. And in terms of this standard, I divide men into fours kinds: good men, “bad” men, “great” men, and “small” men.
　　
　　The good men include those who can be responsible for whatever they have done as well as kind-hearted and of the milk of the human kindness. They can help those who are in trouble without a second thought. And I think this kind of men do have the potential of being husband. They can be a perfect choice. But they are a little conservative and hesitating when they make choices. This hinders their success and becomes a disadvantage for them. When you stay with them, you feel boring and a lack of romance. What they emphasize is the common life such as they can even prepare a birthday cake or buy you beautiful clothes, but not a bunch of roses. The amount of the gifts then sent you is becoming less and less with the development of your relationship. You feel there is no love between you and when someday you leave home and get hurt, you find he is the first one you ask for help. But when you stay together again, you find he is still the boring person and you have to live the tedious life. Then you leave again, finally, you know that is the true meaning of life. But this time you don't have the chance for he has become other's husband. And what you can do is to complain why good men always belong to others.
　　
　　Bad men are always those who are very handsome. Thus they have more choices of choosing women and they won't stay with a woman for long time. If you ask him to give you an answer, he may answer you by leaving you immediately. Because you ask him to choose one tree only, he them will have to give up the whole forest. Then comes their nickname: three nots （not active, not responsible, not refuse anyone）。
　　
　　Great men are often very popular. They know what is proper for them to do. When you are with him, you needn't worry about everything. For example, when you walk with him in a park in a dark night, and there is a man who hurt you slightly which you don't care, but this “great” men won't let it go at that. 　　“Small” man is not relevant to their shortness just like WuDalang in Chinese literature but the limited range of their activities, the weak ability of earning money, the cowardice, short-sighted goal of life and so on In daily life, they go to work on time and know saving money. They often have three kinds of cigarettes: one for himself, one for friends, and another for his manager. On weekends, you ask him to go shopping with you, he can't refuse you and you ask him to cook again he obey you. They are gentle, sensitive, and considerate. And now we think that women are not so women, and men are not so men. So these moderate men become popular and get a beautiful name: metropolis men.
