　　鏡湖在蕪湖市可是個家喻戶曉的地方，外地人來蕪湖必看的一景。現在的鏡湖風景優美，是市民休閑的好去處。可你知道以前的鏡湖是什么樣子嗎？聽我給你講講吧。

　　在上世紀90年代中后期，鏡湖的水體呈高富營養化狀態，水質嚴重惡化，水變成了黃色。惡化的原因主要有：蕪湖市某醫院通過地下水道將大量未經處理的污物、污水直接排進了鏡湖；部分素質不高的`市民往鏡湖里倒垃圾；最可氣的是鏡湖風景區的某些工作人員竟然在鏡湖里洗拖把！慢慢地，鏡湖水變成了黃色，湖面上漂浮著許多垃圾，還散發著一股臭味。來到鏡湖邊的人們都捂著鼻子跑開了，嘴里還不停地說：“真臭！臭死了！”

　　一九九九年DDD二０００年，蕪湖市人民政府號召全市人民清理鏡湖。首先，工作人員用機器將湖水抽干，再由黨員帶頭和市民們一起挖掉淤泥，最后注入清澈的水。我外公是黨員，他有著親身體驗，外公說，那次勞動很累，但改善了鏡湖的水質，大伙兒都感到很高興。

　　現在人們的環保意識增強了，再也沒有人往鏡湖里扔垃圾、排污水了。當你來到鏡湖時，你會看到一片清澈的湖水，水底游來游去的小魚，湖水旁婀娜的垂柳和剛長出來的青青的小草。

　　有了90年代的教訓，我們一定要做個講文明的好孩子，要保護鏡湖水質，保持生態平衡。

　　I feel it a great honor to have a chance to give a speech here, talking about the haze weather, which causes lots of bad effects on our health and life.

　　We breathe polluted air, making us suffer from lung and liver diseases. Besides, because of it, the flights have to be canceled.

　　All kind of transports may run into each other, resulting in much damages and lots of injuries.

　　As far as I am concerned, it is high time that we did something.

　　As individuals, we should ride the underground or buses instead of cars to reduce carbon dioxide.

　　As government, more measures should be taken by carrying out the related law on pollution.

　　In summary, we’re all looking forward to breathe fresher air and live a happier life. Everyone should be a part of this job.

　　Here comes the summer holiday, I have planned a busy schedule on it.
